The Thypoch Simera 50mm f/1.4 is a full-frame manual-focus lens for Leica M cameras. Its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture supports shooting in dim light with less reliance on high ISO settings or added lighting, making it useful for indoor events, night scenes, portraits, and street photography.
Aspherical, ED, and high-refractive-index elements help control distortion and chromatic aberration while preserving detail from highlights to shadows. The HRI and aspherical elements also correct focus curvature and spherical aberrations.
A diaphragm with 14 rounded blades produces soft bokeh that separates subjects from their surroundings. Smooth transitions out of focus complement portraits, lifestyle images, and video work.
The lens focuses as close as 0.45m for detailed close-ups and product photography, with sharpness maintained across the frame even at wide apertures. Resistance at 0.7m on the focusing ring gives a tactile warning that rangefinder focusing has reached its limit; an electronic viewfinder should be used for accurate focusing at closer distances.
