Inspired by the beauty and form of classic cameras from the past, the FinePix X100 combines all the latest technical digital innovations in a beautiful, traditional chassis which oozes class and prestige. Echoing the functional aesthetics of analogue film cameras, the 'manual' dials have been carefully positioned to give the photographer easy control over creative shooting. Aperture, shutter speed and exposure compensation can be checked even before the camera is turned on.

The ergonomics of the design offers the perfect balance between compact convenience and user-friendly operation. Every control has been carefully considered to give the photographer fast access to aperture, shutter speed and exposure compensation, to allow maximum creative expression with minimum hassle.

The upper control deck and bottom surface of the camera has been cast from magnesium alloy, (semi-solid metal casting), to create a high-precision body with high rigidity. All dials on the upper control deck are also fabricated from metal. Premium quality is evident in every detail. The chassis has been finished with high-quality leather accents, allowing you to indulge in pure photographic satisfaction.

Fujifilm's unique Hybrid Viewfinder is unparalleled and the FinePix X100 is the first camera to feature this innovation. The Hybrid Viewfinder combines the window-type "bright frame" optical viewfinder found in high-end film cameras, such as 35mm or medium-format cameras and the electronic viewfinder system incorporated in fixed single lens or mirrorless digital cameras.

The newly developed lens offers a focal length of 23mm (135 equivalent: 35mm) that lets you capture a wide range of subjects while maintaining high resolution and optical clarity. It also features a large F2 aperture which not only delivers both ample brightness and high contrast sensitivity, but also achieves a high level of resolution when the aperture is closed by 1 or 2 stops. Fully exploiting the superior imaging performance of the FUJINON lens and high-sensitivity sensor, the newly developed EXR Processor achieves the highest image quality of any FinePix camera produced to date. Featuring improved high resolution, high sensitivity, low noise and wide dynamic range technologies, the enhanced EXR processor also features a more rapid signal processing response.

The new Hybrid Viewfinder offers expanded freedom in the composition and enjoyment of photography in a range of challenging shooting conditions

Whether you're framing your shot through the Optical Viewfinder (OVF), or Electronic Viewfinder (EVF), your eye will not only see the subject and scene, but also a range of shooting data projected by an integrated high-definition LCD panel

Using a conventional "bright frame" optical viewfinder configuration as a base, the FinePix X100 has an integrated 1,440,000 dot LCD panel to display shooting information

Offering a comfortable field of view (approx. 26deg.), the viewfinder magnification of 0.5 is ideal for lens with a 35mm focal length (135 equivalent)

Just like choosing the ideal film for your creative direction, the easy-to-use film simulation mode lets you simulate the color and tonal qualities of color reversal film types loved by professional photographers

Replicating the effects of monochrome film photography, the FinePix X100 lets you use color filters to expand your photographic interpretation. Heighten contrast with the Ye filter and R filter. Brighten greens and deepen reds with the G filter

Dynamic range can be expanded to prevent "blackout" or "washout" of the subject in high contrast lighting and bring out the detail in shadow and highlights. In addition to automatic optimization, the user can manually select 100%, 200% and 400% dynamic range

The default format is JPEG, but if you want to take the next shot in RAW, with just a touch of the RAW Button, you can switch to JPEG+RAW and capture the next scene in both

Within the screen, the auto focus area is divided into a 49-point matrix (25 points in the case of OVF). AF accurately and swiftly recognizes the primary subject and brings it into crystal clear focus and also lets you freely select the position of the AF frame

Accelerated by the combination of the high-speed signal readout of the fast CMOS sensor and the newly developed EXR Processor, the contrast detection AF deliver a huge leap in speed and precision so you never miss a shot

The distance index bar is displayed in the viewfinder together with the depth of field scale and aperture value, providing helpful guides for focusing.

In low light settings when even the subject is hard to see through the viewfinder, the AF Assist Lamp illuminates the subject and assists Auto Focus

Even in the case of macro photography where depth-of-field is shallow and focusing requires extreme precision, AF deliver superbly sharp focus for subjects as close as 10cm from the lens

After powering OFF the FinePix X100, it enters a sleep state for up to 20 minutes. If the power is turned ON during this time, the FinePix X100 wakes in 0.7 sec (compared with a cold start time of 2.6 sec.) and is ready for you to frame and capture the moment
