Sony FDR-AX700 4K Camcorder
With a convenient camcorder format, the Sony FDR-AX700 4K Camcorder combines 4K and HDR recordings. HDR (High Dynamic Range) photographs can be taken and processed using the HLG format to display on HDR televisions. In terms of showing colours and contrast, HDR formats offer improvements over SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) formats. The AX700 is an all-purpose camera appropriate for everything, from family occasions to professional film and video. It has two SD card ports, a 3.5 inch LCD touchscreen and an OLED electronic viewer, manual control, 12x zoom, and a comfortable body factor.
Recordings in 4K require extra focus. With the growth in resolution above HD formats, blurry recordings are extraordinary. The 273 points of Sony's autofocus system are used to track and record moving objects in the frame. The project-specific emphasis and tracking speed can be changed. The AX700 maintains focus and keeps track of moving subjects, such as actors or fast-moving vehicles, in the frame.
In addition to the S-Gamut colour space, Sony has also incorporated S-Log2 and S-Log3 image profiles for sophisticated users. Through post-production editing, this functionality gives you more control over the final image.
4K HDR (HLG)18 movie quality
High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology puts a visual revolution on display by revealing far wider ranges of colour and brightness, fully realising the exceptional quality of high-resolution 4K images. Moreover, with Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) recording capability, the FDR-AX700 makes it easy to immediately enjoy, without extra processing, HDR images, simply by connecting the camera to a HLG-compatible Sony TV via a USB cable.
Exmor RSTM CMOS sensor of type 1.0
The gorgeous background bokeh defocus effects and superior sensitivity of a huge 14.2-megapixel (effective) 1.0-type stacked CMOS image sensor allow for the capture of high-quality photographs with minimal noise, regardless of the lighting. Approximately 84% of the image area is tightly covered by up to 273 phase-detection AF points on this sensor, allowing for accurate subject tracking throughout the shooting frame.
BIONZ X image processing engine upgrade
The improved BIONZ X image processing engine is optimised for quicker processing, to drive 4K HDR (HLG)18 capture, amazing slow motion recording at up to 960(NTSC)/1000(PAL)fps, and beautiful 4K HDR (HLG)18 capture.
High-bitrate recording with XAVC S
For recording in 4K and HD, XAVC S is employed. For 4K and full-HD recording, high bitrates of up to 100Mbps and 50Mbps, respectively, guarantee stunningly vivid movies with less compression noise. High-quality slow-motion sequences can be produced during post-processing since even at the greatest frame rate of 120 frames per second in Full HD, 100Mbps recording is still feasible.
Wide AF range
Approximately 84% of the overall image area is covered by up to 273 phase-detection AF points. As a result, the AF coverage is extensive and dense enough to swiftly catch things, such as moving objects that would be challenging to focus on.
AF at high speed
The Fast Hybrid AF system uses the phase-detection AF sensor to read out data from a large autofocus coverage area, and the upgraded BIONZ X image processor realises high-speed data processing for precise AF tracking on moving subjects.
Fine LCD touch panel extra

ND filters built-in
The amount of light entering the lens can be altered by selecting from Clear, 1/4, 1/16, and 1/64 Neutral Density filters. Because of this, video producers have more creative freedom to accurately regulate shutter speed and aperture. Even when shooting outdoors in bright sunlight, the large image sensor of the camcorder allows for the creation of beautifully smooth bokeh background defocus effects without increasing shutter speed.
Dualslots
Both simultaneous and relay recording are supported by dual SD card and SD card/Memory StickTM slots. For greater flexibility in client and production processes, use the relay mode when lengthy recording sessions need to extend across both cards. Alternatively, for crucial recordings, the simultaneous recording mode offers a backup.
Slow & Quick Motion and Super Slow Motion

With the help of the Super Slow Motion and Slow & Quick Motion features, you may record fast-moving action at speeds of up to 960 (NTSC)/1000 (PAL) frames per second (40x super slow motion) or captivating time-lapse sequences at 1 frames per second for playback at up to 60 times normal speed.
Shooting using S-Gamut and S-Log
Shooting in S-Gamut and S-Log gives you the freedom to perform colour grading in post-production to create more expressive movies. Wide dynamic range shooting (1300%) with S-Log3 and S-Log2 gamma reduces blown highlights and black crush.
